What does a typical day at Co-Op look like?

Students arrive at 9am to begin self directed play. This includes tables set up with puzzles, building toys and games, a carpet area with building blocks and trains, play dough, and an art table set up with the morning craft. Some students venture to the playroom to play with the kitchen set and full closet of dress up clothes, or head to the library nook to read.

After clean up, students join Teacher Nancy at the carpet for circle time to talk about the calendar and weather and sing special songs. Students then wash hands and enjoy a morning snack brought from home. After snack, students head outside to play in the large play-yard. They ride bikes around the track, swing, play on the pirate ship, paint, and more.

Once outside time is complete, students re-enter the classroom for enrichment time where they separate into small groups to participate in music, language, art, science or listen to a story tied to the monthly theme.

Towards the end of the morning, several students share an item from home with the class and we finish our day with dancing, movement and music!
